I am my mother's daughter.

(Skirt and shirt: F21, Shoes: Gap, Belt: Old Navy)

I just walked into the workout room after running errands to tell my mom something and she just looked at me, smiled, and said you're so much like your mother.
I know for some, being like their mother is the last thing they could ever want. But for me, being like my mother is something I strive for everyday. You see, my mother is the most selfless, kind, loving, intelligent, ambitious, and strong willed person I know.
I truly cannot think of a person I'd rather look and act like.
Other than that, life around here has been mighty lazy due to soaking in summer and all the free time it brings. I start my one online summer class next week so that will give me a little something to do in between packing to move and the future sister in law's wedding.
I've been feeling mighty antsy over here. Like those sudden urges to go accomplish everything and that make you feel like you could conquer the world. I've been using them to do little craft projects but I'm not sure that will hold off the antsy-ness for much longer. So we'll see what the next project for this lady is.
I hope your week is going splendidly and you have a million reasons to smile!

Good friends are hard to find.

Let's start with a little background info.
I met Sam and Alicia through Tumblr over a year ago. Alicia lives in Phoenix and on this trip, we had coffee and I fell in love with her bubbly personality. Sam lives in Colorado but we quickly became close friends through multiple Skype dates, phone calls, and text messages. She truly knows me better than most of my friends. Sam and Alicia had also become great friends and we arranged for Miss Sammy Sue to come visit for the weekend.
Now, yesterday, Sam and Alicia came up North to visit me and we had a fantastic day.
We first took the longer scenic drive to Sedona where we yelled hello to Jake from within the car as we passed by his work. In Uptown Sedona, we grabbed some coffee and hurried back to the car because it was cold and windy for Arizona standards.
We then drove up Mingus Mountain to a little ghost town called Jerome. There we walked a little but it was crazy crowded because of the long weekend and so windy you could barely talk. So we headed into Grapes and had a yummy lunch. The rest of the day was spent chatting for what certainly didn't feel like hours. I was so sad to see them go but can't wait to visit Sam in Colorado!
I could go on for hours about how blessed I feel to have these wonderful friendships in my life but instead I'll just let the pictures tell the story!

Hope your long weekend is just as wonderful!

The Series Continues

The mister has borrowed my card reader for the day and therefore I have no outfit pictures so I thought I'd continue with this "Senior Year" series I've got going on.
I will admit that I definitely didn't think my senior pictures through well. I didn't plan ahead at all. I went to church that morning and after remembered that I had yet to take my senior pictures and time was running out. So I texted a friend who had a creative eye but was never any sort of photographer and off we ventured with my camera to Jerome. Jerome is a perfect little town on the side of Mingus Mountain that makes for a perfect place to take pictures. Although my pictures didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, I'm still very pleased with how they did turn out. I love that they are all very natural and that I stuck with something I had already worn all morning and would wear on any regular day. They turned out feeling very much like me.

There were tons more but these are my favorites!

*My obsession with that belt started years ago as you can tell.

High School Dances

Since it seems to be that time of the year where everyone is going to prom, I thought I'd share some of my senior year dance pictures.
It first started out with Homecoming. I went with a close group of friends and we had dinner at my house before we headed to the dance. Let's be honest here, I never really enjoyed high school dances. I always liked the idea of them but actually kind of hated the real thing.
I can't remember much about my senior Homecoming other than it wasn't very exciting. Our high school always has homecoming at a local elementary school and there's just something about a bunch of high schoolers dancing like crazy people in an elementary school gym that doesn't seem quite right.
Skip ahead to senior prom. I was actually very very close to not going. Like I bought my ticket the day before the dance. Jacob wasn't going to be able to go (not that he enjoys that sort of thing anyway), I didn't want to spend the money, and I had gone the year before with a guy friend and not had such a great time. So I ended up going simply because friends convinced me to. Although the dance really wasn't that incredible, I'm so grateful for those friends who pushed me to go because at least I can say that I went to my senior prom, had a great dinner with friends, and did my best at enjoying the night.
What was your senior prom experience like?
