What I Did in February

Today, instead of doing a What I Did Wednesday post, I decided to share with you the February challenge I did on Instagram! So here's some little slivers of my days.

If you use Instagram, feel free to send me a request! I'm under amandaceleste7!

Hello There Again, Winter

(Last picture included so you can see what I look like in my natural habitat: Blogging at a coffee shop)
(Shirt: Old Navy, Cardigan: H&M, Locket: F21, Skirt: Target, Tights: No clue, Boots: JcPenney, Watch and Purse: Fossil)

Yesterday was one of those days in the worst of ways. I spent the whole day being the epitome of a Negative Nancy. I wasn't feeling well but needed to go to my nutrition class because we had a project due so off I went. I made the executive decision to leave after our break for my own mental health. I decided to get out of my rut by listening to some cheery music on the way home, making myself a delicious dinner, and looking at old pictures. I ended the night with a big smile on my face and once again with the realization that my life is one huge, wonderfully, exciting blessing.
Luckily that motivation carried on to today and I woke up feeling nothing short of chipper.
Today, I also realized I have yet to register to vote. Oops. So I went ahead and got that done! Being all adult over here! As you can see, it's suddenly winter weather again today so the tights and sweaters come out again for a day. In a bit, I'll be giving my first speech in my communications class and let's just say I get to be a nervous wreck when speaking in front of a group but I'm passionate about my topic (Puerto Rico) so hopefully all will go well!
Wish me luck!

Pink Eye and a Minor Foot Injury

(Dress: Thrifted, Shoes: Wanted, Belt: Thrifted, Purse: Fossil)
As you can tell by the title, I came down with pink eye on Wednesday afternoon. At first I thought it was just an infection (I get a lot of strange eye things), until my mother (my doctor) said good bye to me for the weekend and slipped it in that she was treating me for pink eye.
Fun stuff.
Just to add to the fun, I was at the mister's house last night when I got up and stepped on a thumbtack/ nail. That little sucker went all the way into my heel of course. Who knew your foot could bleed so much for such a little hole?
Despite my misfortune on those two things, this weekend has been delightful so far. I got this dress for $6 while thrifting and am so in love. Then today, my best friend/future sister in law came into town for the weekend so I spent my morning with her and will spend my night having dinner with her, two more of the mister's siblings, and the mister. To make it even better, we're getting sushi! Sushi is high up on the list of my favorite things to eat.
As you can see, it has gotten to no long sleeve/ no tight weather and although I am a bit sad, it's a refreshing change that's already making me feel more like myself.
Hope you're having a happy weekend!

Sometimes it's Awkward, Sometimes it's Awesome

(Shirt: Dressing on The Side, Blazer: Thrifted, Shorts: Maurices, Tights: Gift, Boots: Target, Purse: Fossil)
The Awkward:
  • The weird combo of this outfit. I realize it's a bit strange but I felt like going for a bit strange today.
  • And how boxy this outfit makes me look. Just noticed in these pictures. Oops.
  • Taking the mister's friend back to his place as his long distance girlfriend called him. I always feel awkward listening to people's personal conversations.
  • The weather right now and how I'm not ready to let go of tights because of it.
  • Giving up cookies, brownies, and cake for Lent and replacing them with Ghirardelli squares. No biggie.
  • Laying in bed, about to fall asleep at midnight, only to realize you completely forgot about a cupcake order for the next day that required one dozen mini lemon cupcakes but you have no lemon. I have class until right before I have to deliver the cupcakes so I didn't have much time today so I then had to drag myself out of bed, put on a hat and glasses, and drive to Walmart at midnight to buy lemons. Only the life of a baker.
  • The fact that someone pointed out the fact that I haven't made any posts on my baking blog since the first of this year. It's only awkward because I have no inspiration to make up new recipes and there's really no quick way to fix that but with time.
The Awesome:
  • Getting my shirt back from Dressing on The Side after I had to exchange it for a bigger size because it was too short for my long torso. The short shirt part was a bit awkward...
  • Keeping busy this week. It gets a bit stressful but I love having things to do and feeling accomplished.
  • Getting accepted into Idaho State University!
  • Listening and singing along to the Aladdin soundtrack with Jacob in the car. Which led us to decide we need to have a Robin Williams movie marathon.
  • The speech one of my favorite speakers in my communications class gave on Tuesday. It was all about how your thinking affects you. Always a needed message.
That last picture is the face I make in an attempt to make situations less awkward. Can't say it always works...

Hope your week is full of all kinds of awkward and awesome moments!

    What I Did This Wednesday

     Driving home. Flagstaff, AZ.

A Dove Dark Chocolate Cherry Swirl was my breakfast on the go. Oops.

     I'm obsessed.

I got this cute little note on my invoice from Dressing On The Side because they are located in Prescott, AZ.

Today was too busy for outfit pictures but here's my obviously very fashionable (HA!) workout outfit today.

Freshly showered no makeup face with my bangs that seem to take over my face no matter how much I cut them.

    Happy Wednesday!

    A Simple Reminder

"... Your light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine... If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be astonished. If you knew how many people feel so much for you, you would be shocked... You are far more wonderful than you think you are... Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. More than fine. Better than fine. You're doing great. So relax. And love yourself today."
    -Neale Donald Walsch
Some days, everything seems like a beautiful miracle. The smallest things remind you that there are still so many good people in this world and that there is beauty in everyone and everything.
Today was one of those days.

    Guest Post by Mandi!

A few weeks ago, I asked my dear friend, Mandi, if she would be willing to do a guest post. I met Mandi through Tumblr about two years ago. We quickly became friends and she is one of the most beautiful, caring, loving, radiant, and just incredibly people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I absolutely adore her style so I hope you enjoy it as well!
(I had to add a picture of Mandi and her precious boyfriend, Paul. Aren't they just a gorgeous couple?!)

I don't particularly think that fashion sense is something that you learn, I think it's little bits of your personality reflecting into the day to day. On most days you can find me in a baby doll dress and plain black tights. However in the pictures above I'm in nothing of the sort. I did this because I wanted to show that no matter what your usual wear is, it's always invigorating to step out of your comfort zone. Buy a pair of jeans! Or show off your legs in some tights! Or my favorite, work them shoulders, Girl! You are beautiful and your clothes are here to help accentuate it, not dull it. I'm not saying you need to roll out of bed in a pair of short-shorts and a tube top, but wear something that makes you feel beautiful, and nothing else matters. Be your own spirit animal! Be brave, be bold, and be your own. You're so beautiful, and I'm not just saying it.

    Love always,
    Mandi.

Mandi and Paul also make beautiful music! Take a listen!

(You can find Mandi on Tumblr and Blogspot)

    Make a List Monday

Hi, my name is Amanda and I'm obsessed with birthdays. Mine is 46 days but obviously I've been thinking about what I want to do for it for at least a week. So in honor of my somewhat upcoming birthday, I thought I'd make a list today of things I want for my birthday (in my dreams). So here goes.

    These beauties from Frock Candy

I think it's more than about time I got a pretty lace dress and something with a Peter Pan collar. This one from ModCloth is perfect.

I'm pretty much obsessed with all of the shirts at dressingOnTheSide. Also love that they are local!

I love the geometric shape trend and this necklace from Whiskey & Wine is gorgeous.
Lastly, Fossil bags are my guilty pleasure but they are so worth it. I splurged too much on the one I have now but am so glad I did. Unfortunately, it's leather is starting to show all I've dragged it through so a new one is hopefully in my future.
On a quick, totally unrelated note, I finally got carpet in my room and it is looking mighty nice!
(Excuse my overworn blazer and hips that have no end)

I need your help! What would you like to see more of on this here blog? A comment with a suggestion would be much appreciated!

    Happy Monday!

Getting Creative and A Look Into The Past

(Shirt: Thrifted, Dress (worn as a skirt): Maurices, Belt: Old Navy, Shoes: Wanted, Scarf: Gift)
As I mentioned before, I don't particularly have a lot of clothes. Which seems sort of silly for someone who has a blog and post daily outfit pictures. But anyway, I've learned to get creative in this last year. A few years ago, I never would have mixed floral patter with stripes or worn a shirt over a maxi dress. Let's be honest, I probably didn't even know what a maxi dress was. But recently, I've been trying strange combinations and although they might get strange looks from some people in this little town I live in, but I thoroughly enjoy them, and that's what's important.
Just so you can have proof of some of the silly fashion I've had throughout the years:

(I definitely didn't wear this in public. Just modeling my new bathing suit)

Now that I've fully embarrassed myself, I hope you all had a great weekend!
